Dom Barton has been appointed Operations Director for Metropolitan, where he will lead the delivery of low-carbon energy services to customers throughout the UK.

Having been with Metropolitan for more than four years, Dom was previously Business Development Director, focusing on public sector and commercial property energy infrastructures. Dom has a keen interest in energy saving and performance and is an expert in low-carbon heating solutions. He is very enthusiastic about the role that district heat has to play in achieving the UK’s net-zero targets.

Dom has worked in the UK energy services industry for more than 12 years, having previously worked in the defence and mining sectors in Australia. In 2008 he joined one of the UK’s largest energy companies as General Manager of its district heating business, overseeing the delivery and transition-to-operation of its first heat network at Woolwich. In 2010, Dom moved to another well-known energy company, as Head of Operations in its newly created Energy Performance Contracting business. He was responsible for establishing and leading a multi-disciplined team to deliver complex energy-saving projects nationally for clients in the NHS and local authority sectors, as well as low-carbon heating and cooling solutions for large retailers.

A chartered mechanical engineer, with an MBA and Project Management Professional qualifications, Dom is also an active advocate of energy and engineering to school students as a STEM ambassador.

Andrew White, Managing Director at Metropolitan, said: “We are delighted that Dom has accepted the position as Operations Director. He brings considerable expertise and experience to this role, and his passion for delivering excellent service will benefit our growing customer base in particular”.

Dom Barton commented: “In my time at Metropolitan I have really enjoyed working with valued clients to develop and deliver low-carbon, cost-effective energy solutions”.
